Join Brian Twohig of the Cape Cod Astronomical Society to hear about the basics of astronomy and how to get started in the hobby. Learn about what equipment to use, different smartphone applications, and about more advanced astrophotography equipment.
There will also be binoculars, telescopes, and star charts on display!
About our speaker:
Brian Twohig was born in 1955. He remembers the space program from the beginning, Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, to the Shuttle and Space Station. He was inspired to become an Electrical Engineer. His career consisted of engineering contributions to semiconductor manufacture, space, aerospace and defense systems. Highlights of his career included the opportunity to contribute to the Hubbell Space Telescope manufacture while employed at Perkin-Elmer Corporation in Connecticut. He also had very interesting efforts on semiconductor manufacturing and helicopter systems design.
Brian is currently retired on Cape Cod and a member of CCAS, The Cape Cod Astronomical Society. In retirement, He enjoys traveling, hoping to see the 2027 total solar eclipse in Egypt, photography, his two daughters and three granddaughters, as well as life on the Cape.
