As the head of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s school and through personal story, Dr. Greendeer discusses the ways in which learning the Wôpanâak Language is strengthening her people’s connection to their culture and their homeland.
About our Presenter:
For over 20 years, Dr. Hicks Greendeer has worked as a student and teacher of the Wampanoag language. She currently serves her tribal community as the Head of Weetumuw School, and a Tribal Councilwoman. She also teaches at Brown University in the Native American and Indigenous Studies Program and American Studies Department.
