Our Mixtapes, Ourselves:
The Happy-Sad Story and Soundtrack of Generation X
Local Author Talk with David Grady

Part memoir, part cultural analysis (and as Grady half-jokes) “part group therapy session,” Our Mixtapes, Ourselves playfully and poignantly explores why New Wave, Punk, and Post-Punk music mattered so deeply to millions of Gen X teens back in the 1980s—and why it still resonates more than 40 years later.

The essay collection, filled with personal stories and expert commentary – including interviews with a Cape Cod DJ, members of popular 80s tribute bands, a legendary record store owner and a “punk rock psychologist’ — invites readers to revisit the music that shaped a generation and to reflect on its enduring emotional power.

Copies of David’s book will be available for purchase after the presentation.
