In-person in Community Rooms AB
Meet Garv, an Eastern Box Turtle, and an Eastern Screech Owl at this fun and informative talk with Wild Care!
Wild Care, Inc. is a nonprofit wildlife hospital located in Eastham that is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned wildlife on Cape Cod. Wild Care operates a Wildlife Helpline, and treats over 1,700 animals per year; everything from Snowy Owls to White-footed Mice.
Join Wild Care’s Amy Sanders to learn about the biggest impacts faced by local wildlife, about the Cape’s most common species, and what to do when you find animals in distress and how you can help.
About our Presenter:
Amy Sanders is the Volunteer Coordinator for Wild Care, and also a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator, as well as having done many, many volunteer hours there for the last 8 years. In addition to rehabbing, Amy does field rescues (and covers the Outer Cape), feeding of young orphaned squirrels and birds, communications, talks and educational animal handling. She also sometimes writes of her wildlife adventures for their e-newsletter, Duck Tales. She has an MS in Special Education and taught for 33 years.
Amy lives in Truro, with her menagerie of pets. In addition to her love of family, wildlife and art (she is also an artist represented by a gallery in Orleans), Amy loves to indulge in reading (most often in the sciences) and extensive hikes all over the Outer Cape
