Artist of the Month at CPL

As a center of community life, the Centerville Public Library encourages and supports civic, intellectual and cultural pursuits. The library invites local artists to display their work in the library front lobby for a one month showing.

Every month, patrons can visit the lobby in the front of the lobby and view a local artist’s exhibit. Some artists will have select pieces or prints available for purchase, and a portion of proceeds benefit the library.

Support CPL and local artists through this ongoing program!

olivia ferguson livi gigi may artist

Olivia ‘Livi’ Faulkner is a contemporary American artist based in Massachusetts. She is a self-trained mixed media painter and digital artist. Exposed to contemporary art from a young age, Olivia was inherently drawn to modern art; never expecting it would impact the course of her life and career.

Olivia’s work fuses many different stylistic elements of contemporary art, such as texture, contrast, splatter, fluidity, and geometric-inspired shapes. She is known for using various non-traditional art mediums which inform her body of work, and uses an action-based approach when painting. In her studio, she “lets go of conformity and allows the action of art to lead the way”. Many of her compositions strike a signature style of chaos and control, connectivity, and finding s “balance in the unbalanced” – where contrast is a common theme.

Olivia received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from The University of Massachusetts at Amherst and studied at the University of Leeds in Leeds, England. In her years after graduating from university, she realized that no other career path would allow her to derive the most fulfillment and satisfaction the way painting does. She believes there is substantial value in interpretation through art, often prompting her viewers to question societal norms and structures of power.
