“Fatal Forecast” Author Talk with Michael J. Tougias

May 22 @ 4:30 PM

Thursday, May 22 at 4:30 p.m. (HYBRID)

Author Michael J. Tougias will be joining us via Zoom to give a presentation on his new book, Fatal Forecast: An Incredible True Tale of Disaster and Survival at Sea, A true story of a Massachusetts man’s epic fight for survival.

This author talk will be held in Community Rooms AB.

Using slides from the actual storm and rescue, Tougias will explain one of the most remarkable survival stories ever recorded.  During the program, Tougias will chronicle how in November of 1980, two fishing vessels, the Fair Wind and the Sea Fever, set out from Cape Cod to catch offshore lobsters at Georges Bank. The National Weather Service had forecast typical fall weather in the area for the next three days—even though the organization knew that its only weather buoy at Georges Bank was malfunctioning.

This is a hybrid program. Join us at the Centerville Public Library to watch the Zoom presentation on our projector, or view it from the comfort of your own home!
