Supporting Someone at the End of Their Life

Supporting Someone at the End of Their Life
Presentation with Bob Davidson
Wednesday, January 28 at 11:00 a.m.
In-person in Community Rooms AB
When a friend or family member approaches their end of life, many people feel uncomfortable in this situation.
Why? Because end of life has very unique and difficult questions that are sometimes hard to answer.
- When will the death happen?
- Why are they acting like this?
- What if I say something wrong?
- What do I say if I get asked a tough question?
- What if I don’t know what to say?
This is a 1-hour presentation to help you overcome awkwardness and feel confident in caring for someone.
It is designed for:
- People who are, or will be, the support person for a family member or friend.
- People who want to volunteer to support someone on hospice.
About our Speaker:
Although Bob is originally from northern NJ, he moved to MA in 1987. However, he has vacationed on the Cape for over 40 years. He and his wife were able to finally “wash ashore” to Eastham in 2022. He has over 24 years of pastoral experience and over 10 years of hospice work, initially as a Chaplain and now as a Volunteer Coordinator. As a Coordinator, his drive is to find and train volunteers to come along side those who are at the end stage of life.
In addition to his wife, his family includes four grown children and four grandchildren. In his free time he enjoys dining out with his wife, playing the guitar, being a member of the Mass Corps of Fire Chaplains, trips to Peru, and walking every night on the beach at 10:00 PM (especially to rescue stranded marine life).
