Deetz is currently working with Charles River Watershed Association and the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature. Deetz’s art work ranges from contemporary arts such as painting and lino cuts that often incorporate social themes and issues\, and through to museum quality traditional wampanoag arts such as wampum and wood carving. \n\n\n\nThrough his work in arts education and advocacy Deetz has traveled through 48 of the lower 48 states to Peru\, Mexico\, Bermuda\, France\, Switzerland\, and the UK.

DESCRIPTION:Experience Ireland: Song\, Music\, Dance\, Art and ComedyPresentation with Sean Murphy\n\n\n\nFriday\, September 18 at 2:00 PMIn-person in Community Rooms AB\n\n\n\nLocal Irish historian\, musician\, and dance teacher is coming to CPL to give a presentation with some uplifting pieces featuring some wonderful examples of Irish people keeping their culture and history alive. \n\n\n\nYou will get a mixture of Irish history\, music\, dance\, ancient art\, and comedy all blended into a show about Ireland through the ages. He will use video clips of traditional Irish music and dance that will let you see how this aspect of Irish culture is thriving. Images of ancient art\, many dating back thousands of years\, will be accompanied by a narrative that helps you to understand their origin and history. \n\n\n\nThere will be a quick overview of the history of Ireland that includes information on the physical formation of Ireland\, and some ancient and recent historical events. \n\n\n\nIt would not be possible to have an Irish night without some humor. There will be some clips of family-friendly laughs by one of the greatest Irish comedians\, the late Brendan Grace. \n\n\n\n\nClick here to RSVP for this presentation!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout our Speaker:\n\n\n\nSean Murphy was born and reared in Dublin and came to live on Cape Cod in 2005. He has a passion for his homeland and loves to share his knowledge and interest about his heritage through classes\, workshops and conversation. He worked as a math teacher in public schools until he retired in 2017. \n\n\n\nHe is a teacher of Irish history\, music\, and dance. Over the past fifteen years he has taught courses at the Irish Cultural Center of New England in Canton\, Cape Cod Sons of Erin\, Cape Cod Cultural Center\, the Cotuit Center for the Arts\, and at venues on Nantucket. \n\n\n\nSean Murphy has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Trinity College Dublin’s department of Economic and Social Studies; a BSC in Mathematics and Physics from London University; and qualified as a Management Accountant with the Dublin Business School. He is a nationally certified Business Mentor.

Hear from this author with 40 years of experience\, and pick up a copy just in time for yourself or as a gift! \n\n\n\nDuring their annual Christmas celebrations\, a Nantucket family faces surprising news and unexpected decisions in this warm and inviting novel. \n\n\n\nTitcomb’s Bookshop will be present and will have copies of Nantucket Christmas Stroll available for purchase and signing after the presentation.   \n\n\n\n\nClick here to RSVP for this author talk!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Author:\n\n\n\nNancy Thayer is the author of 38 novels\, including The Summer We Started Over\, All the Days of Summer\, Summer Love\, Family Reunion\, A Nantucket Wedding\, Secrets in Summer\, and The Hot Flash Club. Her books are about families and friendship and the beautiful island of Nantucket. Her work has been translated into fifteen languages\, including Lithuanian\, Hebrew\, and Finnish. \n\n\n\nNancy Thayer has a B.A. and M.A. in English literature from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Before settling down to write and have children she taught English at various colleges and traveled\, living in Paris\, Amsterdam\, and Helsinki. She was a Fellow at the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference in 1980 and she was awarded the Romantic Times Career Achievement Award in Mainstream Fiction in 2015. \n\n\n\nNancy has two grown children and six grandchildren.
